Giovanni Barcella, flamboyante italiaanse drummer en gentenaar, gaat op muzikale tocht met enkele muzikale verwanten onder zijn leitmotief  ‘Ik decomponeer de hedendaagse esthetiek -schoonheid zo je wil- omdat ze verdriet noch dood duldt, niet ingaat op't wereldlijk carnaval en zichzelf niet meer bevraagt. Haar format -een lege huls- bevestigt enkel wat de cultuurindustrie toelaat, wat haar goed uitkomt binnen reeds uitgezette bakens. Mij rest enkel revolte, om zo dichter poëzie te naderen’.

PaNoPTiCoN is a collective of musicians turned to improvisation. Our musical adventure started on april 2007, almost three years now of intense touring. Every show is a performance in itself as the line up changes from one date to another, the number of musicians, the instruments involved being different everytime. It allows me to always experiment new ways and breaks up every single chance to do things twice, spontaneity being the core of this ambitious project. PaNoPTiCoN's music shares the same spiritual heights of acts like the electric Miles, Weather Report, Sun Ra, as well as the kaleidoscopic ways of the famous psychedelic bands of the seventies. Joachim Badenhorst (Antwerpen, 1981) studeerde in Den Haag bij John Ruocco en Michael Moore. Ook volgde hij les bij Don Byron, Dave Douglas, Misha Mengelberg en Greg Osby tijdens de Banff jazz Workshop in mei 2005. Joachim is co-leider van Rawfishboys, een duo met de Franse contrabassist Brice Soniano, van Red Rocket, een trio met de Ierse gitarist Simon Jermyn en Ierse drummer Sean Carpio en van het Belgisch-IJslandse kwartet Mogil. In de Singer was hij reeds te gast met Le Petit Cirque en met het tangokwartet Lunfardo.
Simon Toldam Rosengren leidt diverse ensembles waaronder het negenkoppige orkest Prügelknabe. In 2007 verkoos Jazz Denmark hem tot 'artiest van het jaar'. In datzelfde jaar kreeg hij een compositie-opdracht van het Copenhagen Jazz Festival, het belangrijkste jazzfestival van Denemarken.

Robin Verheyen en Aki Rissanen begonnen vijf jaar geleden samen te spelen toen ze beide in Parijs woonden. Sindsdien stonden ze op het podium van verschillende clubs en festivals in Europa waaronder het Tampere Jazz Festival, Pianotune Festival,… In 2009 brachten ze het album ‘Semplice’ uit op het Finse label Alba Records.
Verheyen en Rissanen brengen eigen composities en improvisaties geïnspireerd op het werk van oa Wayne Shorter, Keith Jarret, Claude Debussy, Olivier Messiaen and Steve Reich.
